Resources for Families and Friends

The Affected Families and Friends Work Group provides opportunities for friends and family to share hope, raise awareness, and reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders.

This webpage was created to provide information to friends and families coping with a loved one’s substance use disorder. Driven by the loss of loved ones to overdose, we include resources that were unknown to us during our struggles. Links in this list include resources for treatment, recovery, insurance concerns, legal issues, family support services and organizations assisting in the grieving process. We hope you find this helpful; we ask you to share it and to offer suggestions on how we can improve and/or add to it.

Work group meetings are held virtually on the third Friday of each month, from noon to 1 p.m., and feature a guest speaker bringing us up to date on the many issues families face in dealing with substance use disorder. Please see the links for meeting schedules, meeting minutes, podcasts, and our video series “Beyond the Numbers: Echoes of the Opioid Epidemic”.
