Compassion Cards

There is no question that connection and lived experience are two powerful resources in any difficult journey.  Our Compassion Cards were inspired by the CHDS/BHA Lift the Label campaign, and address two important groups for whom cards did not yet exist: one for impacted families and another for individuals negatively impacted by benzodiazepine use. The artwork on both of these beautiful cards was designed by Colorado artist and recovery advocate, Quana Madison.  The content and resources within the cards are curated by work group members with respective lived and living experience.

SUD/Overdose Loss Compassion Card

These cards are for those grappling with the realities of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or Overdose Loss. Each shares an empathetic message written by affected families who have lived through similar challenges. The card is a simple, tangible way to acknowledge pain, offering a profound sense of not being alone and contains a QR code which links to our Affected Families and Friends Work Group resources page. These cards can be ordered by individuals connected to a loved one affected by SUD or overdose loss, and in bulk by agencies who regularly support these families.

Available in English and in Spanish

BIND Compassion Cards

These cards are for those navigating the complexities of Benzodiazepine-Induced Neurological Dysfunction (BIND). The card shares a message of validation from folks with lived and living experience who understand the often-misunderstood reality of harms that can be caused even when taking medication as prescribed. Whether you’re an agency working on benzo issues or personally know someone experiencing benzo withdrawal or BIND, you can order and gift these cards to those affected and/or their caregivers so they can access the resource catalog and receive a caring message of support.
