Keep The Party Safe closes 2023 in style
Hello, and Happy New Year from Keep The Party Safe!
Keep The Party Safe, the Consortium’s fentanyl overdose prevention campaign, has big plans for 2024 after finishing 2023 strong. This included helping our partners ring in the new year by giving out about 1,000 doses of naloxone on Dec. 30 and 31 and raising awareness about fentanyl overdose prevention in a round of media coverage.
This monthly update offers a snapshot of our recent activities. Also, thanks to volunteers from Bee The Vibe and CU’s School of Pharmacy for their help, as well as AEG for letting us join the party.
Keep The Party Safe joined as an official sponsor of Decadence NYE, the largest New Year’s Eve music festival in the nation. On Dec. 30 and 31, volunteer partners from the Consortium, Bee The Vibe (which is a Mile High Behavioral Healthcare harm reduction program), and the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy helped staff a booth inside the festival to share harm reduction tips, hand out free naloxone and help festival goers ring in the new year safely. We handed out an estimated 1,000 doses of naloxone, and the campaign received rave reactions and thanks from many festival goers both in person and on social media.

Nitazene deaths in Boulder County made headlines in December. The Consortium weighed in on this concerning trend, emphasizing the importance of naloxone, and shared Keep The Party Safe’s harm reduction messaging and resources with Fox 31 TV. Access the story here.
As part of our activation at Decadence music festival, held at the Colorado Convention Center, Fox 31 TV interviewed the Consortium about our efforts to distribute naloxone and educate attendees.
CBS Colorado also covered Keep The Party Safe’s naloxone distribution at Decadence. Zack Jenio, who is the program manager for Bee The Vibe, sat down with reporter Michael Abeyta to discuss the need for public awareness, the Keep The Party Safe checklist for a safe night out, and how to administer naloxone.
