Request a Speaker

Representatives of the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention can requested to speak for educational events, community forums, coalition meetings, and other events. There is no charge for a speaker. Note: Due to COVID-19, most speaking requests are currently done on a virtual basis.

All presentations can be modified for your allocated time frame unless otherwise noted.

–State of the State: Opioid Crisis and Colorado’s Response (30 – 60 minutes)

In this presentation, attendees will learn background on the issue, the most current national and state statistics, what is being done in Colorado through the Consortium, the state legislature and other state partners, and what you can do.

–Community Reference: Resources for Local Communities (15 – 30 minutes)

In this presentation, participants will learn about resources available to local communities and how to access them.

–How to Save a Life: Naloxone Education (15 – 60 minutes)

This informational session will teach participants to recognize who is at greatest risk for experiencing an opioid overdose, the symptoms of an opioid overdose, and how to use the Narcan brand of naloxone to reverse it. Depending on the level of detail and time requested, participants can also learn to train others in administering naloxone. Please note that these sessions will NOT include training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), chest compressions, or rescue breathing using a practice manikin.

–Strategy Management System (15-60 minutes)

This update provides information about a free tool your community can use to track efforts to address the opioid crisis and aid with strategic planning. The software includes strategy maps and scorecards and within those you have to ability to build out outcomes, measures, targets, and actions (OMTA).

–Best Practices in Treatment and/or Recovery (30-90 minutes)

This educational presentation includes information about evidence-based treatment frameworks/modalities and their integration into recovery-oriented systems of care (ROSC).

–Legislative Updates (15 to 30 minutes)

This brief legislative update will provide timely Colorado legislative updates. Stay updated and learn how these efforts could impact participants locally and how to get involved.
