Partners, places needed for CDPHE sharps program
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is launching a new sharps/needle take-back program and is looking for partners to host collection kiosks.
The program is modeled on the successful Take Meds Back program, which allows Coloradans to dispose of their medications safely and securely. The program’s goal is to provide free and convenient access to proper needle disposal for Coloradans through the administration of a needle collection program that prioritizes services for under-resourced and home-bound residents.
For fiscal year 2020 – 2021, the program is limited to Colorado Front Range participants.
The CDPHE also is forming a sharps mail back program for Coloradans with limited mobility.
